Polpette miste al forno - Baked meatball

Antipasto polpettoso!
Meatbally starter!

sale
pepe
burro qb (per imburrare la pirofila)
olio evo

What can you do if, making homemade cappelletti, you have some stuffing leftovers?
My first thought was "let's prepare homemade cannelloni" because they need the same stuffing, but the preparation is so long and I have so many things to do in these days that I decided to make something easier and quicker.
I had this idea by accident while I was thinking about a possible pizza topping... nice, isn't it? :D
Well, I suddenly thought about meatballs, or should I better say, very small meatballs to use as pizza topping.
And then I told to myself: "Why don't make even bigger meatballs to use as starter?"
No sooner said than done!!
The stuffing was very doughy and I started to make meatball one after another.
Roll, roll and roll, here they are some nice balls ready to bake... but I had a new problem now.
I want to serve some simple meatballs or a nicer dish, wrapping them with other ingredients?
Clearly, I chose the nicer solution :)

Baked meatball

Ingredients

200g stuffing for cappelletti (you can find here the recipe)
4 medium-small sized spinach leaves
3 bacon slices
salt
pepper
butter as required (to grease the oven dish)
extra-virgin olive oil

Prepariamo 10 polpette di dimensioni medio-piccole.
Let's prepare 10 medium-small sized meatballs.

Set aside 3 of them and let's "wrap" the others.
Cut in half lengthwise each bacon slice and wrap the meatball.

Take two spinach leaves, wrap a meatball with them and then fix them with a toothpick.

At the end you will have 3 simple meatballs, 2 spinach wrapped meatballs and 5 bacon wrapped meatballs.
Grease with butter an oven dish, place the meatballs, season them with a pinch of salt, a sprinkle of pepper and a drizzle of olive oil

and put into a preheated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Remove from the oven, spare each meatball with a toothpick and serve them.

Bon Appétit!!
